Hyderabad, Sept. 5 As Indiramma (mass housing scheme for the homeless) enters the second phase, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and his Cabinet colleagues will join house-warming functions across the State to “share the joy” of 15 lakh people who got houses in the first phase.

In an open letter to the people, Dr Rajasekhara Reddy said the ‘Indiramma gruhapravesams’ (house-warming) programme would begin on October 2 and complete on Vijaya Dasami. “I myself will participate in some of the functions,” he said.

In the first phase, the Government completed 10.50 lakh houses. “Another 4.5 lakh houses are in the final stages of completion. We hope to complete them by the month-end,” he said.

In the second phase, the Government sought to complete 22 lakh houses. The process for identification of beneficiaries, which began on September 1, would end on September 15.

“We have formed 3,500 teams, comprising 21,000 officials for the purpose. We will ensure transparency in identifying the beneficiaries,” he said.

There would be another phase of Indiramma to complete the overall target of 80 lakh houses.

Besides, the Government plans to bring 15 lakh more people under the pension net, taking the total number of pensions issued by the Government to 29 lakhs in the last three years.
