Our Bureau Bangalore, Sept. 6 Karnataka, which has earned Airtel a high penetration in the usage of its technology by its subscribers, has become a natural arena for the launch of two new products for the mobile telecom company. With its subscribers accounting for the highest usage of credit cards and Internet for payment of bills, Airtel on Thursday announced the introduction of ‘m-Check’ and ‘One2one’ for the post-paid subscribers to pay their monthly bills and managing their accounts. 2 new systems
Currently 35 per cent of its 5.1 million subscribers pay their bills through credit cards, while 20 per cent use the online system underlining the tech-savvy users’ confidence in the security system that the technologies offer, said Mr V. Venkatesh, CEO, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Karnataka. This should ensure Airtel an easy adoption of ‘m-Chek’ that enables the phone users to pay their bills through the SMS at the click of the keys on phone. Similar SMS-based facility will enable the subscribers to use the ‘One2one’ for managing their phone accounts. Security
Airtel has partnered with the local vendor m-Chek’ to introduce the facility free-of-cost to its customers. The simple system entails registration by the Airtel subscribers with the ‘m-Chek’ site and access the menu-driven secure system without having to strain in writing the message. The interactive mode facilitates to enter the credit card number and the bills amount fro a quicker transaction, said Mr Venkatesh He said the registration process takes about two to three minutes and the bill payment process less than a minute. The subscribers can use it as an ‘anytime-anywhere’ transaction medium for paying their bills even from outside their home town. Karnataka’s subscriber base was not only the highest among the Bharti Airtel’s operations, it was higher than even single operator subscriber base in Singapore where it’s associate in India, Singtel had only about three lakh users.
