Global Retail School moves into South
Our Bureau
Bangalore, Sept. 6 Global Retail School, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cosmo Aviation Training School has launched its South Indian operations. With over 40 retail schools already up and running in North India, GRS is looking at a presence in at least 12 South Indian locations including Mysore, Chennai, Vizag, Coimbatore, Secunderabad and Vijayawada by the end of the year.
GRS will offer distance education programmes in retail including a one-year diploma in retail management. Over 5,000 people trained for the retail sector are expected to be readied by GRS by March 2008, Mr Sunil Baberwal, Regional Director, Global Retail School, South India, said.
GRS has an alliance with Annamalai University to conduct the programmes. The school has also tied up with Bharti Resources (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharti Enterprises) to design the course modules. Bharti Retail is expected to absorb about 80 per cent of the GRS-trained talent, according to Mr Baberwal.
Ms Aditi Srivastava, CEO, Global Retail School, said that paucity of skilled talent has emerged as a primary area of concern for this high growth sector.
