Excess supply: Women grading the famous Byadgi chilli at the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee Market Yard at Byadgi in Haveri District, Karnataka. Chilli prices have declined to Rs 4,100-4,600 a quintal in view of higher arrivals of around 40,000 bags in Guntur markets and lower offtake of 15,000-20,000 bags. However, prices are expected to look in the medium term on export demand. On NCDEX, red chilli September contracts ended up at Rs 4,776 and October at Rs 4,673. –
