RPG Cellucom to expand presence

Hyderabad, Sept. 7

Mobile phone and IT retail chain RPG Cellucom today announced the launch of four new stores, taking the overall number to 75. The company plans to add 25 more by the month-end taking the number to 100 and thereafter expand to 200 by the year-end. “Unlike some companies that have opted for the franchisee route, RPG Cellucom has decided to expand by setting up own outlets. We have planned to invest Rs 100 crore to set up the chain of outlets by March 2008. The plan is to have 200 stores by December and 300 by March next,” according to the company’s Head of Marketing, Mr Biswajit Padney. Addressing a press conference, he said “By offering users mobile phones, which now account for about 70 per cent of total sales for RPG Cellucom, we also attract them to buying IT products.” —
