Infrastructure States - Andhra Pradesh Work on agri hub at Nuzvidu to begin today
Our Bureau Vijayawada, Sept. 7 Work on the proposed agri hub at Nuzvidu in Krishna district to facilitate export of mangoes and other fruits will begin on Saturday. The foundation stone for the Rs 27-crore project will be laid on Saturday and the first phase is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year, said Mr Bhoopal Reddy, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of AP Agros. He said that in the first phase, integrated pack houses with vapour heat treatment, ripening chambers, pre-cooling units and cold storage units would be set up at a cost of Rs 11 crore. GOVT grant
Of the amount, Rs 8.7 crore would be given by the Agricultural Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) as grant, Rs 1.3 crore by the State Government and the rest would be mobilised by AP Agros. Mechanical vegetable handling units would also be set up in the hub, he said. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) would provide three acres of land for the first phase. A special purpose vehicle would be floated for the second phase and the APIIC would give 12 more acres of land for the purpose, he added.
