Vodafone Essar replies to I-T Dept

New Delhi, Sept. 7

Vodafone Essar (formerly Hutch Essar) on Friday replied to the show-cause notice issued to the company recently by the Income Tax Department. The Department had asked Vodafone Essar to show cause on why the company should not be treated as an ‘agent’ of Vodafone under the income tax law. Informed sources said that Vodafone Essar may, if required, look at filing a writ in High Court to defend its position.
