Swiss co to open office in Bangalore

Bangalore, Sept. 8

Swiss machine tool major, GF AgieCharmilles, has announced the opening of its India sales and technical support office here. The company, which has been supplying machine tools to its customers through its distributors, hopes to strengthen its presence through the new establishment with an eye on the huge market from the automotive and aerospace industry. Addressing a press conference here, Mr Jurg Krebser, President and CEO of AgieCharmilles, said that his company had a 20 per cent share in the $50 million market in India in precision machines such as electric discharge machine and high speed drilling machines. The Swiss Frank 1.15 billon company will be marketing its products and services under a single brand name, AgieCharmilles, with technical support from Bangalore office. —
