According to Mr Jitendran, the company’s financial performance is the reflection of the strength and competence of its workforce, which is fully trained and ready to implement more ambitious projects including the construction of the country’s first indigenous aircraft carrier. The yard has, at present, put the infrastructure of the Small Ship Division on a fast track in order to ensure that high value commercial ships are produced even during the pendency of Aircraft Defence Ship. Post expansion and implementation of SSD, CSL would be processing at least 4,000 tonnes of steel per month, the highest ever done in any shipyard in India, he said.
