Hyderabad, Sept. 12 With a view to retaining its leadership and expanding its reach in the home video/DVD rental market, Bangalore-based Seventymm is planning to line up e-tailing, movie downloads and free streaming in the next few months. The company is also looking at offering gaming and edutainment services.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr Subhanker Sarker, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Seventymm, said the home video market would grow to Rs 2,500 crore by 2011 from the present Rs 650 crore, growing at CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) of 31 per cent. “We are going to expand to 40 tier-II cities in the next few years with a view to taking a good share of that market. Also, we will expand the product offerings,” he said.

The company targeted to enroll one million subscribers across the country in the next five years. At present, it has 35,000 subscribers in six cities.

Mr Sarker, who was here in connection with the launch of Seventymm operations in Hyderabad, said the Rs 29,600-crore Indian entertainment industry was forecast to grow to Rs 73,800 crore by 2011, including Rs 17,500 crore from the film industry.
