Diversification Industry & Economy - Science & Technology Deccan Aviation eyes aerial mapping Our Bureau Bangalore, Sept. 12 Deccan Aviation, which plans to hive off its Air Deccan airline venture, will foray into aerial survey and mapping, according to Executive Chairman, Mr G.R. Gopinath. While the demerger of the two companies is still being studied, Deccan Aviation is talking to a French company present in Bangalore to provide technical support for its mapping activities, he said on Wednesday after signing an MoU with Apollo Hospitals for air ambulance service. Aerial mapping for infrastructure could be a major activity in the country, as accurate 3D maps are in demand for pipeline laying, powerline loads and erection. Many mining MNCs need geophysical surveys in a big way in Bellary, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. The helicopter charter company would focus on this segment. According to the proposal notified to the BSE in April this year, the company would form separate entities for charter and MRO services. Deccan Aviation will focus on helicopter services while Air Deccan will be the commercial entity. More Stories on : Diversification | Science & Technology | Airlines | Infrastructure
