‘APIIDC acting like realtors’

Our Bureau

Visakhapatnam, Sept. 13

The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Industries (FAPI) has criticised the role of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIDC), as it is “acting like a real estate agent”, and has urged the State Government to allot land to industries directly.

Undue delays

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Mr B.V. Rama Rao, President of the FAPI, said the APPIDC was not acting like a true facilitator and the undue delays in land allotment were dampening the enthusiasm of entrepreneurs.

He mentioned the example of the proposed jute park in Srikakulam district for which the Chief Minister had agreed to allot land. But, he alleged, there were too many procedural delays. Such an attitude on the part of officials would not encourage industrialists, he added.

‘Inordinate delays’

The new industrial policy of the State Government was very encouraging, but at the ground level the implementation left much to be desired. There were inordinate delays in releasing the promised incentives, he added.

Mr Rama Rao urged the Chief Minister to constitute a special corporation for SMEs in the State. The problems of these industries needed to be addressed separately, he added.
