Industry Associations States - Andhra Pradesh AP bid to tone up energy efficiency Our Bureau Hyderabad, Sept. 14 As an energy efficiency measure, the Andhra Pradesh Government plans to invest up to Rs 3,307 crore for improvement of T&D (transmission & distribution) network during the next few years. Giving this information, the State Minister for Energy, Mr Shabbir Ali hoped that the exchange of information on best practices would illuminate the path to improved energy management in the State and the country. The Minister also released ‘Energy Efficiency Bulletin’, compiled by CII-Godrej GBC, covering implemented energy efficiency case studies from various industrial sectors, at the annual awards function on Thursday. About 38 energy efficient companies, shortlisted on the basis of questionnaire survey and selected by expert panel of judges, made their presentations at the two-day competition. The participating companies have cumulatively achieved an annual recurring saving of Rs 550 crore . These savings were achieved by implementing 1,680 projects. CII- Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre organised the eighth ‘National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2007’ which was attended by heads of energy intensive sectors, managers from all industrial sectors, energy consultants, maintenance engineers, decision makers from financial and R&D institutions and educational institution.
Out of 38 short-listed companies, the following 20 companies were awarded with the shield along with the certificate of merit as the ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’: Ashok Leyland Ltd, Hosur; Asian Paints Limited, Cuddalore; Bajaj Auto Ltd, Waluj; Century Pulp & Paper, Lalkua; Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd, Dalmiapuram; Emerson Climate Technologies, Karad; Heavy Water Plant, Manuguru; IFFCO-1, Phulpur; IPCL, Baroda; ITC Ltd – PSPD, Bhadrachalam; JK Tyre, Kankroli, Rajasthan; Madras Cements Ltd, Alathiyur; Nava Bharat Ventures Ltd (Sugar Division), Samalkot; Philips Electronics India Ltd – Light Factory, Mohali; Reliance Energy Ltd, Dahanu;Reliance Industries Ltd, Hazira; Sterlite Industries Ltd, Tuticorin; Sterlite Industries Ltd, Silvassa; Tata Chemicals Ltd, Babrata; TTK LIG Ltd, Chennai.
