Foreign Trade States - Tamil Nadu TN trade team visiting S-E Asian countries Our Correspondent Madurai, Sept. 14 A 16-member trade delegation from Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by its President, Mr S. Rethinavelu, will be leaving on Saturday, on a two-week visit to South East Asian Countries for promotion of two-way Exim trade and exploring opportunities for joint ventures. Chamber delegations had already visited in the past Sri Lanka and the Maldives in 1999, China including Hong Kong and Thailand in 2001 and the Mauritus, South Africa and Dubai in 2004. The present and the fourth delegation from the chamber will be visiting Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia as there are wide prospects and potential for accelerating trade and tie-ups with them, he said in a press meet here. The possibilities for promotion of trade in processed foods, edible oil, automobile and accessories, herbal and country drugs, floral concretes and absolutes, products of plastics including packing materials, chemicals, cotton and synthetic yarn, paper and paper boards, electricals and electronics, granite stones, construction materials like timber, wooden handicrafts, information technology etc. will be explored. The delegation will be signing a memorandum of understanding with leading chambers of commerce in those countries for bilateral trade promotion and strengthening of trade relations.
