New education software for schools

Chennai, Sept. 14

Sivamathi Animation Software and Electronics Ltd has launched a beta version of its education software package catering to state board and matriculation syllabi for classes 10, 11 and 12. The package integrates audio-visual media, animation and text to make lessons lively and enhance the learning experience. Currently available in English and Tamil, the software covers subjects such as physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, history and geography. Modules on mathematics are c urrently being developed. The company’s software is available in external hard drives (starting at Rs 12,300 for a 250 GB drive), desktop computer set up (at Rs 50,000) and laptops (at Rs 57,000). A special hardware-cum-software set up catering to tuition centres is available at Rs 2 lakh. Version 1 of the software will be launched in a couple of months and students using the beta version can buy it for free. “We also plan to launch a similar software for CBSE syllabus by the end of this year,” Mr R.S. Sivaprakaasam, Chairman and Managing Director, SASEL, said at a press conference. The company also has plans to evolve its own curriculum that can be used by all schools in the world, he said. —
