Ninestars plans $15-m investment

Chennai, Sept 14 Ninestars Information Technologies Ltd, a content transformation and e-archival technology and services provider, plans to invest $15 million (Rs 60 crore) over the next 18 months to expand its operations in India and abroad.

The privately held company works with newspaper publishers, broadcasters, content aggregators, media monitoring companies and government organisations to provide “intelligent” business process outsourcing services.

The proposed investment would be used to further research and development activities, setting up global delivery centres in the US and Australia and expanding headcount of Indian operations to 3,500 from the present 1,100 employees. Funding mechanisms for the investment are being worked out, said Mr Pradeep Nevatia, President and Chief Executive Officer.

The company has invested about Rs 25 crore till date, including about Rs 8 crore in research and development.
