KLG develops new power monitoring device

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad, Sept. 14

KLG Systel Ltd has developed an intelligent nationwide tariff monitoring engine that tracks usage of power by electricity boards, corporations and even houses deploying radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

Instead of auditing power after usage, this helps track and manage power in real-time that would be ideal for electricity boards.

The company is engaged in talks with several boards with this solution.

Homegrown tech

This is complemented by yet another homegrown technology on IBM services oriented architecture (SoA) that helps monitor and control power usage through the Web interface.

Literally, one can control power control systems in a house, enterprise or hotel, over the Internet.

The General Manager of KLG Systel, Mr Sumit Goel, said that these two technology initiatives of the company fit well into the current global need to control and optimise usage of energy resources.

The company refers this technology solution as ‘connectgaia,’ and plans to take these solutions global by roping in local partners.

Mr Goel told Business Line that the solution has been developed on technology backed by IBM-tested communication protocols, databases and related technologies.

The solution is backed by a system that helps monitor information collaboratively in an organisation.

This intelligent management system, when installed in a public place like a hotel or a mall, interacts with sensors and helps monitor parameters such as temperature, pressure, carbon dioxide emission levels and humidity.

By monitoring these parameters, one can better manage power usage.

R&D investment

With revenues of $130 million, the company had fund infusion of $22 million from Goldman Sachs and plans to further step up R&D and marketing drive.

Thus far, the company invested about Rs 30 crore in R&D to build this system and plans to invest Rs 30 crore more, he said.
