Rupee tad weaker

Mumbai, Sept. 14

The rupee weakened by two paise against the dollar on Friday and closed at 40.46/47, marginally down from the previous close of 40.45/46. The rupee was largely range-bound during the day. “The central bank was seen buying dollars in order to cap the appreciation of rupee,” said a dealer with a private bank. The home currency opened at 40.45/46 and after remaining in that range during the major part of the day, closed at 40.46/47. In forwards, the six-month prem ia closed at 1.62 per cent (1.72 per cent) and the 12-month closed at 1.74 per cent (1.77 per cent). -
