Nature’s Bounty brings Sicilian wines to India

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Sept. 14 Nature’s Bounty Wines and Allied Products Pvt Ltd (NBWAP) on Friday launched three brands of Sicilian wines in the domestic market, in an attempt to strengthen its position here.

The company has tied up with Italian winemaker Calatrasi for this purpose.

“I expect the wine industry to pick up pace and grow even faster than the current rate. As we have seen in other industries, increase in competition leads to high growth because every participant is investing in not only promoting and distributing its products but also in educating the consumer,” said Mr Amit Burman, Chairman, NBWAP.

Besides launching the three brands of Calatrasi Maranfusa, D’istinto and Terre di Ginestra 2002 in India, the company would also introduce ready-to-drink wine-based liqueur shots in four flavours — banana split, chocolate, melon and pancakes — at Rs 110 per shot.

On the company's sales targets, Mr Burman said, "With the addition of three new brands in the current fiscal, we are expecting a 150 per cent jump over the sales of Rs 2.5 crore in the previous fiscal."

NBWAP currently has two brands in its portfolio and plans to increase it to four in the coming fiscal. Of this, one would be from the traditional wine producing countries such as Italy and Spain, while the other would be from emerging wine producing nations such as Australia and South Africa, Mr Burman said.

Last year, NBWAP had entered the domestic wine distribution and marketing segment with the launch of its brand Czarina Creek Wine in four variants
