Mixed trend in rubber

Kottayam, Sept. 14 Spot rubber witnessed a mixed trend on Friday. RSS 4 firmed up by 50 paise to Rs 87.50 a kg at Kottayam, while it maintained the same level at Kochi. Ungraded rubber also firmed up on improved demand while the remaining counters were unchanged and inactive. Traders were unwilling to sell following intensified rains all over the plantation areas and it was difficult to find out a quantity seller in the main marketing centres.

Futures gain

On NMCE, the September contract expired sharply higher at Rs 94.50 a kg against Rs 91.18 on covering purchases at the concluding session. The near month October contract finished better at Rs 85.10 (84.18), November at Rs 83.10 (82.58) and December contract at Rs 83.00 (82.41) per kg for RSS 4, while the October contract improved to Rs 85 (83.70) a kg on MCX.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 87.50 (87); RSS-5: 85.50 (85.50); ungraded: 81.50 (80.50); ISNR 20: 85 (85) and latex 60 per cent: 59.45 (59.45).
