Tea Steady trend at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau Kochi, Sept. 14 Prices of most teas remained steady at the Kochi tea auction, which had 10,60,360 kg of dust tea on offer. Best CTC dust remained steady, good liquoring, medium and plainer varieties were barely steady, while finer grades of CTC were occasionally dearer. Prices of high grown orthodox varieties were dearer and secondary orthodox remained steady. Blenders were active even as purchases for the domestic market gave useful support. There was some export enquiry on plainer CTC varieties. Best CTC varieties quoted Rs 65-75, medium CTC realised Rs 50-60 and below medium fetched Rs 30-36. High grown BOPD quoted Rs 70-112, medium BOPD was at Rs 47 and secondaries fetched Rs 27-31. Leaf gradesMedium orthodox primaries and whole leaf grades were steady at the leaf tea auction, which had 273,000 kg on offer. High grown orthodox broken and whole leaf grades were firm to occasionally dearer. Orthodox grades witnessed good export enquiry. Best Nilgiri varieties fetched Rs 85-95, medium orthodox was at Rs 45-75 and plain orthodox quoted Rs 40-41. Best CTC leaf fetched Rs 50-60 and medium CTC was at Rs 40-46. More Stories on : Tea
