Farm credit States - Other States Waive agriculture loan: Badal Jalandhar, Sept. 16 The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, has asked the Centre to waive agriculture loan of farmers in the State and hike the Minimum Support Price of wheat and paddy. “If a special package for relief on agriculture debt can be given to farmers in Southern states, why not the same facility be extended to the peasantry of Punjab,” he told presspersons here on Saturday. Mr Badal said he recently met the Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar, to app rise him about the plight of Punjab farmers who contribute the largest share of foodgrains to the central pool. During his meeting with Mr Pawar, he demanded hike in the Minimum Support Price of wheat and paddy and said the fixing of MSP should be linked to the price index.
