HC to hear BCCI appeal on Sept 24

Kolkata, Sept. 17

A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising Mr S.S. Nijjar, Chief Justice, and Mr Justice P.C. Ghose, will hear the application for stay filed by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) in the matter pertaining to Mr Jagmohan Dalmiya on September 24.On July 20, Ms Justice Indira Banerjee passed an order allowing Mr Dalmiya to contest election, and stayed the decision of BCCI to suspend (membership) and also expel Mr Dalmiya from BCCI. BCCI filed an appeal challenging the order of Ms Justice Banerjee. A stay application was also filed on the ground that the First Court had set aside the Board’s rule, which the law does not permit. —
