Alliances & Joint Ventures Industry & Economy - Cinema Sony to make Bollywood movies with Eros Our Bureau New Delhi, Sept. 19 Hollywood studio, Sony Pictures Entertainment will now make ‘Bollywood’ movies with Eros International. The London-based film distributor and producer and Sony announced that they will jointly develop, produce and acquire multiple films. While Sony, which makes its foray into Bollywood with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed love story, ‘Saawariya’, will distribute some of the titles in the US, Eros will have distribution rights for other international territories. “This deal continues Sony Pictures’ dedication to the region as we embrace and support local talent and invest in films made specifically for audiences in India and the Indian diaspora,” said Mr Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO, Sony Pictures in a statement. “I am delighted to establish this important relationship between Eros and Sony Pictures, a prominent Hollywood studio with a global brand and reputation of the highest quality,” added Mr Kishore Lulla, Chairman and CEO, Eros International. In April, Sony Pictures launched its International Motion Picture Production group, acknowledging the growth of the world motion pictures market. Eros has an option to acquire 24 per cent stake in the television brand, B4U Network which has a joint venture company BEN-SET Ltd with Sony Entertainment Television (SET), India in UK.
