Global agri forum may meet in Hyderabad

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 19 The World Agricultural Forum Board has asked the State Government to submit a concrete proposal for organising the Forum next year in Hyderabad.

Dr Suresh Babu, member of the board and Programme Leader at the International Food Policy Research Institute (Washington), met Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday and requested him to submit the proposal.

Dr Reddy attended the 2007 edition of the Forum held at St Louis, US, a few months back.

Dr Babu suggested that the Government set up an Agricultural Policy Studies Centre within the agricultural University system to provide intellectual support to the State in the formulation of agricultural development strategies.

Responding the suggestions, the Chief Minister directed Dr A. Janaiah, Professor of Agricultural Economics at Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, to prepare proposals, a release said.
