Hiranandani in talks with hospital majors

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Sept. 20 The real-estate-centric Hiranandani Group is in talks with hospital majors in the country to build hospitals for them, said Mr Niranjan Hiranandani, the Group’s Managing Director.

Having recently tied-up with the Ranbaxy-promoted Fortis Healthcare for a hospital project in Navi Mumbai, the Hiranandani Group is looking to strengthen its presence in the healthcare segment by building more hospitals, rather than actually running them, he said.

The Group is looking at about five projects in different parts of the country, he said, and added that it was talking to major hospital chains like Apollo. Talks are on with the Wockhardt Group, as well, to build hospitals for them, a company representative said.

He said that the Group was also talking to a healthcare-oriented fund, though nothing has been finalised on any of the above projects, he added.

He was speaking to the media on the occasion of the accreditation that its Dr L.Hiranandani Hospital had received from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Organisations (NABH). The hospital is the eight to get NABH accreditation.
