Andhra varsity, CII sign pact

Visakhapatnam, Sept, 20 The Confederation of Indian Industry, Andhra Pradesh Chapter, and Andhra University signed a memorandum of understanding here on Thursday to improve the employability of students graduating from the university. The agreement will be valid for three years from October 1.

A consortium is being set up with the Vice-Chancellor of the university as the Chairman and the CII, Andhra Pradesh, chairman as the co-chairman. The other members are HSBC Global Resourcing, Nipuna Services Ltd, Maple Software, Infotech Enterprises Ltd, Xinthe Technologies (P) Ltd, Visakhapatnam steel plant and Lazarus Hospitals Ltd (Vizag).

Stress on soft skills

Prof. L. Venugopala Reddy, Vice-chancellor, said the consortium would lay stress on imparting soft skills and improving the employability of students.

Mr Pradeep Dhobale, Chairman of the CII (AP), Mr C.G Patil, Director (Commercial) of the Visakhapatnam steel plant, Mr P. Vijaya Prakash, Registrar, and Dr. Varma Vegesna, Chairman and Managing Director of Lazarus Hospitals, participated in the function.
