Telecommunications Marketing - New Products & Services HFCL rings in Punjab service New Delhi, Sept. 21 Himachal Futuristic Communication Ltd on Friday launched its new mobile services in Punjab which offers subscribers tariffs on a per second basis. This is the first of its kind offer in India as most of the operators in the country charge on a per minute basis. The advantage of a per second tariff is that mobile users need to pay for exactly the duration of the call. In a per minute tariff, users have to pay for an entire minute even if it is a 10 second call. The service has been launched under the brand name ‘Ping’. HFCL, which has already spent Rs 100 crore on launching the service, will invest Rs 20 crore further to extend it, the company said in a statement. HFCL also introduced a colour mobile handset costing Rs 999 with 6,000 minutes of on-net calls. The handsets have been procured from Chinese manufacturers ZTE and Huawei. The service, based on CDMA technology, would be available in 150 towns and 5,000 villages in Punjab and Chandigarh. It would be extended to 5,000 more villages in Punjab in the next 12 months.— Our Bureau More Stories on : Telecommunications | New Products & Services
