Gemini Comm bags BSNL order

New Delhi, Sept. 21

The Chennai-based Gemini Communication Ltd has bagged a contract from the State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd for installation and commissioning of telecom equipment and their connected accessories across 11 telecom circles in the country for CDMA connectivity. The contract is valued at Rs 10 crore. The circles are Andaman & Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Kerala, acc ording to a company release. The CDMA deployment is being undertaken to improve connectivity and clarity for BSNL subscribers and is scheduled to be completed by next month, the release added. Commenting on the development, the Executive Director, Mr Ram Kumar, said that Gemini Communication was entering into the area of cellular communication from the hitherto stronghold of broadband access. “With this contract, it will deploy skilled manpower, installation tools, aids and measuring instruments in all the circles for expediting the work,” he said. —
