Kolkata, Sept. 21

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 150 crore within the next two-and-a-half years on expansion of production capacities and augmentation of its product portfolio.

Manufacturing Facility

The company is hopeful of garnering a 4 per cent share of the domestic market for two-wheelers by 2010, according to Mr Atul Gupta, Vice-President-Sales & Marketing, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd.

Addressing a news conference held here today to mark the launch of the Suzuki Access 125 scooter in Eastern region, Mr Gupta said the company had already invested Rs 350 crore in India and had set up a manufacturing facility at Gurgaon. The Gurgaon plant has a total land area of 37 acres and was equipped to manufacture 1,70,000 two-wheeler units annually.

Prior to the launch of the Suzuki Access 125, the company had earlier launched variants of two 125 cc motorcycle models. Of the total land area of 37 acres, the existing plant has been constructed over 6.5 acres of land. The balance would be used for future expansions, among other things.
