Retailing Government - Politics AP supports Kerala’s stand against monopoly retailers “More outlets on the lines of Supplyco in Kerala would be opened in Andhra Pradesh.” Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 21 The Andhra Pradesh Government has extended all support to Kerala’s opposition to the entry of monopoly giants into the retail sector. Mr K.V. Krishna Reddy, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Andhra Pradesh Government, who visited the State along with a team of officials, said that the Kerala Government’s efforts on this front were worth emulating and that his Government would extend all support to take the campaign forward, according to an official statement. The Minister said that more outlets on the lines of Supplyco in Kerala would be opened in Andhra Pradesh to tackle the foray of monopoly groups. Besides, the State would introduce a scheme to supply pharmaceutical drugs at prices 10 to 40 per cent lower than the market prices as was being done by Supplyco medical stores in Kerala. The Minister and his team visited the supermarkets, ration shops, wholesale outlets and ‘Maveli’ stores in Kerala to get a feel of the public distribution system. He said that the Andhra Pradesh Government would procure essential commodities such as Andhra Jaya rice which is in huge demand in Kerala. More Stories on : Retailing | Politics
