Foreign Trade Hong Kong sees scope for ties in IT, infrastructure development K.R. Srivats Hong Kong, Sept. 21 Hong Kong sees scope for enhanced partnership with India in information technology and infrastructure development. Information technology and infrastructure development are areas where both the countries could complement each other and by that extension also in China, Mr Alan Wong, Deputy Executive Director, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said. “India is well advanced in IT industry. China enjoys a little bit of cost factor in certain areas than Bangalore for example. We feel the IT industry could be complementary. Some of the work currently done in India could perhaps be outsourced through Hong Kong in China,” he said. In this regard, Hong Kong was looking at second and third-tier software companies as the larger ones like Infosys have already established their presence in China, he said. “Second and third tier software development companies could perhaps find a partner in Hong Kong and get some of the business done in mainland China as well,” Mr Wong said. He also added that some of the exports of software could perhaps be modified in Hong Kong and then could get into the China market. On infrastructure development, Mr Wong pointed out that tremendous construction activity was happening in India and that a number of infrastructure projects were on the drawing board. “Hong Kong has some experience in infrastructure development, port management and development, energy development, logistic service development and development of shopping malls. These are the areas where we can be of service to Indian economy,” he added. More Stories on : Foreign Trade | Software | Infrastructure
