The biggest box handlers

Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong (in that order) continue to be three largest container handling ports of the world.

Leading the pack, of course, is the Singapore port. In first eight months (January to August) of the current year, Singapore handled 17.8 million TEUs, up 13.7 per cent over the 15.6 million TEUs it handled in the same period last year.

During the same period, container throughput at the Shanghai port, at 17.1 million TEUs, was up by 22.4 per cent, and at Hong Kong, at 15.72 million TEUs, by 2.3 per cent.
