New Delhi, Sept. 24

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd has won the Golden Peacock Global Award for excellence in corporate governance-2007, conferred by the World Council for Corporate Governance, London. The award was presented to ONGC by Mr Ola Ullsten, Chairman of the Jury and former Prime Minister of Sweden, at an awards function earlier this month. This is the third time that ONGC has won the award; it had earlier won the awards in 2005 and 2006. The award recognises the company’s initiatives towards fairness, accountability, transparency, social responsiveness, maximising shareholder value and establishment of effective systemic controls in all spheres of its business. —
