Railways Government - E-Governance SC Railway launches e-tendering Our Bureau Hyderabad, Sept. 25 After successfully testing e-tendering process in a small way, the South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the launch of a dedicated Web site to host e-tenders for works in the zone. “The idea is to improve transparency in the tendering system,” a senior official of the SCR said. SoftwareThe software consists of features such as digital certificate and signature to securely publish the notices and submit the bids. BidsThe bidders interested in online submission of offers are required to obtain a valid digital certificate and get registered with e-tendering system. “The bids submitted will be encrypted and stored in a time-locked electronic tender box. The tenders cannot be opened before the deadline,” the official said. The system would use SBI’s payment gateway for accepting fee and EMD (earnest money deposit or the amount payable by the bidder showing seriousness on the tender). As the process is new for the railway contractors, the officials have put downloadable training kits on how to go about e-tendering. More Stories on : Railways | E-Governance
