A1 Grand Prix bullish on India

New Delhi, Sept. 25

The A1 Grand Prix, with its country-specific team format, hopes to bring the passion of cricket to motorsports in India. Mr David Clare, CEO of A1 GP, Asia Pacific, said the event hosted in China in the past would find great connect with audiences in India. “Unlike other races where only two-three players are likely to win, in A1 we provide a level playing field and in any race at least 15 to 16 teams believe they can win,” he said.

A1, which develops content, says it can personalise it for any country, and is looking to expand its coverage with other broadcasters. It is looking out for another location for its races, and India is on the map. Mr Yohann Setna, COO of Team India A1 GP, which is being driven by Narain Karthikeyan, said talks were on with the Governments of Maharashtra and Haryana for possible locations. India is already gearing up to host an F1 race in 2010.
