SBT staff on strike today

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 26

Employees of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) will observe a one-day strike on Thursday in response to a call given by employees unions of associate banks of State Bank of India (SBI). The strike is in protest against the move for merger of associate banks with SBI. A press release from the bank said that the strike might affect the normal functioning of the branches. Although the bank is making all efforts to minimise the disruption in services, it is requesting the cooperation of the customers to make a success of its efforts, the release added. - Our Bureau
