Info-Tech - New Projects
A clarification

With reference to the news report titled ‘Nestronics plans 12 assembly lines in Chennai unit’ that appeared in these columns on September 8, Nestronics’ General Manager, Mr P.N. Mathur, clarifies:

The company does not intend to assemble medical equipment as reported, but only assemble PCBs for medical equipment.

“We plan to have 15 assembly lines .... ” should read as “We plan up to 15 assembly lines...” which is depending on ‘market condition’.

On the point that “Eventually, all manufacturing activity would be moved out of Nestronics’ Singapore facility”, the company has said it meant that “all mass assembly would move to India, and Singapore facility would focus on new product development and prototyping.

On the point that “Manufacturing in India is about 40 per cent cheaper than in Singapore”, Mr Mathur has said he meant the labour cost alone, and not total costs.
