Precautionary steps



Fears of damage: A farmer spraying pesticide on his paddy field near Gudiwada in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh to protect the crop from the after-effects of the recent rains. Some of the growing areas are feared to have damaged the crop prospects due to the rains. The Agriculture Ministry has, however, projected a marginal rise in rice production this kharif to 80.15 million tonnes against 80.11 million tonnes last year. – CH. Vijaya Bhaskar
