Nimsme to train textile cluster with GTZ help

M. Somasekhar

Hyderabad, Sep. 27 The textile and readymade garment makers in Hyderabad, mostly in the unorganised sector, will shortly get the much needed expert interventions to help them build strengths and stand up to competition.

The National Institute for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (Nimsme), with support from the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), will take the initiative to help these small manufacturers turn into competitive, credit worthy enterprises.

According to Mr Chukka Kondaiah, Programme Director, Nimsme, the necessary credit linkage has been established with the State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH). Soon, SBI and Andhra Bank are expected to commit financial support.

The textile and readymade garment cluster with around 200 players, including 75 in the textile park in Gundlapochampally itself are expected to be covered by this venture, he told Business Line.

GTZ offer

The GTZ has SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) financing and development division, which has in principle agreed to offer up to Rs 20 lakh to Nimsme to take up the project for a 10-month duration, Mr Kondaiah said.

“We will make the textile and readymade garment makers credit worthy through specific interventions by offering them training. Then, with the linkages to the banks, necessary funding can be accessed,” he said.

Awareness about trademarks, intellectual property rights (IPR), relevant technologies, credit lines, market opportunities and export regimes are some of the issues that would be offered to the manufacturers.
