Coimbatore to host textile CEOs’ meet

Coimbatore, Sept 27 The apex textile body Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) has chosen to hold its 48th annual general meeting on September 28 here in the backdrop of a CEO conference.

The second in series, the CEO conference with the theme ‘Recipe for enhancing competitiveness of the textile industry’ is designed to address some of the critical issues such as rupee appreciation, finance cost hike, raw material and power cost constraints facing the textile sector, so as to elicit the textile entrepreneurs with inputs to deal with the current challenges, threats and opportunities encountering the industry.

The Union Minister of State for Textiles, Mr E.V.K.S. Elangovan, will inaugurate the conference to be attended among others by the Tamil Nadu Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, Mr N.K.K.P. Raja, and the State Rural Industries Minister, Mr Pongalur N. Palanisamy.

The SIMA AGM will also see change of guard with assumption of new chairman to be elected at the AGM in place of Mr S.V. Arumugam, who demits office on completion of his tenure.
