Ratan Tata gets UK special recognition award

Mumbai, Sept. 27 Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Sons, was today awarded the special recognition award by the UK Trade & Investment, at a function held here.

The award was presented to Mr Tata by Lord Dougby Jones, UK Minister for Trade & Investment.

The award was presented in appreciation of his contribution to the promotion of business relationships between India and the UK and to mark 100 years of Tatas collaboration with the UK.

Handing over the award to Mr Tata, Lord Dougby Jones said: “It is my personal pleasure and on behalf of the Majesty and the Government, I present this special award to Mr Ratan Tata, who has been a good friend of the country for a very long time. He has truly made Tata Group a global player to reckon with.”

Receiving the award, Mr Ratan Tata said: “It is a great privilege and honour for me to receive this award at the hands of the Minister. The UK is a country that holds a special place for us at the Tata Group. We hope that our involvement will grow in the years to come. I wish to thank the Majesty and the Government for the support and tolerance, to us being there.”

Tata Sons, which has made investment over $13 billion in the UK (including Corus), was awarded the Investor of the Year at the UKTI India Business awards 2007 function held in the evening.
