Mumbai, Sept. 27 Lupin Ltd has acquired Rubamin Laboratories Ltd (RLL), part of the Baroda-based Rubamin group, for an undisclosed amount.

The pharmaceutical business of the Rubamin group, RLL focuses largely on advanced intermediates for active pharmaceutical ingredients under the Contract Research and Manufacturing (CRAM) model.

The divestment of RLL is part of the Rubamin group’s larger strategy to focus on its core expertise of mining and metallurgy, a note from Lupin said.

The acquisition would bring into the Lupin fold multiple manufacturing facilities in Baroda and over 150 employees including 50 scientists, Mr Satish Khanna, Lupin’s Group-President told Business Line. Lupin has a total employee strength of about 5,500 people. Rubamin Laboratories has clocked sales of about Rs 40 crore for the year-ended March 2007, the official added.
