Oxyrich to export drinking water to S.Africa, Gulf

K.V. Kurmanath

Hyderabad, Sept. 28 Oxyrich, the packaged drinking water company of the Manikchand group, has set its eyes on the South African and Gulf countries.

“We have received a patent in South Africa for our oxygen-rich water product. We are in an advanced stage to begin exports to that country this financial year,” Dr Balajith Shetty, Project Head (Oxyrich), told Business Line.

The company claims to have a market share of 10 per cent in the Rs 1,800-crore packaged drinking water sector in the country.

“We are also looking at exporting to the Gulf,” Dr Shetty said.

The company has so far applied for patent for the process to make the oxygen-rich packaged water in 22 countries, including the US and China

“As and when we get the patents, we will enter the respective markets,” he said.

The company hoped that the extra oxygen in the product would help it take roots in the export markets.

Capacity expansion

The company, which has a combined installed capacity of 7.5 lakh litres a day from seven plants, would invest Rs 16.25 crore in enhancing the capacity by 2.25 lakh litres a day.

In the Hyderabad plant, the company would add one lakh litres a day, taking the total to two lakh litres a day. “
