Coimbatore, Sept 28

The Union Minister of State for Textiles, Mr E.V.K.S. Elangovan, on Friday called upon the textile exporters to diversify their product, market and dollar-centric trade as avenues that will mitigate from the current problem of export value erosion.

SIMA meet

He was speaking at a one-day conclave of chief executive officers of textile industry, organised under the banner of the Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) here today.

He also assured that both the Centre and the State Government were fully aware of the problems faced by the textile industry hit by the rising rupee which he felt is only a ‘temporary phenomenon’ and the industry’s fortune would soon bounce back.
