Despite hurdles: A worker engaged in making coir mat at manufacturing unit in Alappuzha, Kerala. Coir products export from the country increased to an all-time high of 1,65,097 tonnes, valued at Rs 595.22 crore, in 2006-07 against 1,36,027 tonnes, valued at Rs 508.45 crore, in 2005-06. Exports are continuing at a good pace despite production being hit as workers have had to take leave after being affected by chikungunya. –
