Union Bank promotions

Mumbai, Sept. 27

Union Bank of India has decided to speed up promotions for officials in the executive cadre. This would ensure that executives at a senior level have sufficient tenure with the bank, said a press release from the bank.

The fast track promotion process has been approved for posts up to the rank of assistant general manager (in scale V). Currently, a newly-recruited officer would take at least 20 years before he is promoted to the rank of assistant general manager. Under the new fast track promotion process, a candidate with all the required qualifications can reach this rank in just 11 years.

This would give such officials sufficient residual tenure to implement long-term projects of the bank, said the press release. It would also take care of the problem of posts becoming vacant due to retirement of senior officials.–
