Doctorate for Mukesh Ambani

Vadodara, Sept. 30

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda has conferred the Degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.), Honoris Causa, on Mr Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). University Chancellor and scion of the erstwhile Baroda State, Dr Mrunalini Devi Puar, greeted Mr Ambani with a shawl and presented him with the Honoris Causa, at the 56th Annual Convocation.

Another recipient of the honour was Sri Sri Ravishankar, popular yoga guru. Mr Karan Bilimoria was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Mr Ambani is among the 15 dignitaries from different fields to have received the honour from the prestigious University. The luminaries honoured earlier include Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr Kanaiyalal M. Munshi, Dr. Jivraj Mehta and Dr. Varghese Kurien. Mr Ambani is the youngest recipient to have received this honour at the age of 50. —
