AP issues 72 lakh job cards

Hyderabad, Sept. 30

The Andhra Pradesh Government has issued 71.89 lakh job cards under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), covering 19 districts. Works generated by the scheme resulted in wages of Rs 1,210 crore so far, benefiting about 54.51 lakh people. Chittoor leads in giving employment to more households, while Anantapur tops the list as far as person days of employment is concerned, a Government press release said. –
