IT-enabled Services Info-Tech - Outsourcing 6 Indian cities among emerging outsourcing hubs
L.N. Revathy Coimbatore, Oct. 2 Six Indian cities have figured among the top 50 cities identified globally as ‘emerging outsourcing and IT services destinations.’ Five of these have been ranked among the top 15 vis-À-vis three cities in China and two in Vietnam. The Global Services Survey conducted by Cyber Media in association with Tholons, an investment advisory firm reveals that outsourcers consider process maturity, availability of relevant skills and costs in the individual city as top reasons before deciding on the location. The Chairman and CEO of Tholons, Mr Avinash Vasishta, foresees the emergence of newer tier II cities in re-engineered globalisation models in view of the widening demand-supply gap. Coimbatore at the 21st position is the sixth city to figure in the list of top 50. The survey has placed 19 Asian and 12 East and Central European cities among the Top 50 (emerging BPO and IT services) destinations world-wide. Commenting on the findings, Mr Pradeep Gupta, Publisher, Cyber Media, said these potential hubs would grab a huge chunk of the global IT and BPO services pie in the next three years. The research ranked the top 50 and profiled the first 15 global cities for outsourcing. The study also ranked the top 5 obvious choices such as Bangalore, New Delhi (National Capital Region), Manila NCR, Mumbai and Dublin as prime outsourcing hubs, as these have serviced the global corporate world for over a decade.
